WorldIsaias strengthens into hurricane as it continues toward Gulf Coast

Isaias strengthened into a Category 1 hurricane late Wednesday and continued north. The Gulf Coast was under high alert, with the storm expected to make landfall in Florida’s panhandle Friday night. The National Hurricane Center said maximum sustained winds had reached 75 mph.
