ScienceWATCH: Karl Deisseroth tells his family he won the Nobel Prize in medicine

Stanford University released footage of Karl Deisseroth telling his two daughters and one son that he had won the Nobel Prize in medicine. The 54-year-old shared this year’s award with two researchers in Germany for work on optogenetics, which uses light and genes to switch neurons on and off in living brains.
