WorldIsrael holds nationwide ceremonies for victims of Hamas attacks

Israel is holding ceremonies on October 5 to mark the anniversary of the October 7 attacks because its official national memorial day follows the Hebrew calendar. Public buildings lowered their flags at 6:29 a.m., when the attack began. Hamas militants killed about 1,200 people and took more than 250 hostages. Israel then launched a war in Gaza that killed tens of thousands of Palestinians and displaced much of the territory’s population.
