US death row inmate Christa Pike was taken to hospital after Tennessee halted her execution when she remained alive and breathing following two pentobarbital injections. Witnesses said they heard her snore more than 40 minutes after the second dose. Pike was convicted of murdering a classmate in 1995, when she was 18.
