Global diesel supplies are tightening, driving up costs for transport, farming and industry and threatening to add to inflation. Russia, usually the world’s second-largest diesel exporter, has extended export restrictions through the end of October. Prices have nevertheless reached record highs in the United States, while the White House is reportedly discussing a possible export ban.
