CultureFive long-unseen paintings unveiled in ‘almost mythical’ private collection sale

Sotheby’s has unveiled five paintings by Cézanne, Renoir, Monet and De Vlaminck from the Blaquier-Arrieta Collection, expected to raise about $450m at a New York sale in November. The rest will be shown digitally, including Van Gogh’s Châtaigniers en fleurs. Much of the collection was acquired in London in the 1970s by Carlos Pedro Blaquier and Nelly Blaquier de Arrieta.
