PoliticsUK opens major new weapons factory as defence spending surges
A 15,000-square-metre factory in central London has begun making precision components for drones, missiles, submarines and jet engines. Described as the capital’s largest industrial facility to open since the Second World War, it reflects a government drive to rebuild Britain’s defence manufacturing base. Defence spending is expected to rise from $82bn in 2025 to $107bn by 2029, while weapons-production jobs increased 51 percent over the past year.
