WorldUS troops leave Iraq after more than two decades of military involvement

The United States is ending its military mission in Iraq, with the remaining American troops leaving after more than two decades of involvement. About 2,500 US troops had been stationed there at a time over the past decade, mainly advising and training Iraqi forces. The withdrawal ends a mission that began with the US-led invasion in 2003.
