SocietyDA reopens alleged gang rape investigation as Cornell faces civil lawsuit

New York prosecutors are reopening an investigation into the alleged gang rape of a former Cornell University student after her lawyer filed a civil lawsuit this month, arguing the school failed to do enough to protect her. Tompkins County District Attorney Matthew Van Houten said the case is expected to go before a grand jury, after the original investigation into the alleged 2024 assault produced no criminal charges.
