Fighting in northern Ethiopia has entered a new and potentially critical phase. Federal forces reportedly seized Alamata in Tigray and are advancing towards the regional capital, Mekelle, while clashes continue in Amhara and Afar. Afar’s governor says Eritrean forces are involved and control more than two-thirds of the region.
