> Two separate mass shootings in South Africa have killed at least 27 people: 17 at a tavern southwest of Johannesburg and 10 at an entertainment venue near Cape Town. Police are hunting the gunmen, with no arrests reported and motives unclear. Journalist Velani Ludidi linked the wider rise in shootings to the proliferation of illegal firearms.
