Bangkok has been declared a disaster area after days of torrential rain inundated homes, businesses and major roads. Some parts of the Thai capital received nearly 300 millimetres in under 48 hours, overwhelming canals and drainage systems. Schools, businesses and transport have been disrupted. Governor Chadchart Sittipunt says conditions have stabilised, though more heavy rain is forecast.
