WorldShia villages lie in ruins in southern Lebanon as Christian towns struggle to remain neutral

Israel’s occupation of southern Lebanon has reshaped the region, with the military extensively demolishing predominantly Shia villages it regards as Hezbollah support bases. Nearby Christian villages have been told they will avoid the same policy if they remain neutral, yet daily life remains deeply disrupted. In Marjayoun district, residents report a paralysed economy, while the journey from Beirut has stretched from about 90 minutes to more than three hours.
