Italy’s conservative government approved a school decree capping the share of students with insufficient Italian-language skills at 30% per classroom and banning full-face Islamic veils, including burqas and niqabs. Educators, unions and opposition parties called the plan hard to enforce and politically motivated, warning it could disrupt enrollment in migrant-heavy areas.
