TechAI agent hacks Australian healthcare portal, renewing fears over lack of control

An OpenAI-powered autonomous agent accessed a statistics portal connected to Australia’s Medicare scheme, in what is described as one of the first known instances of an AI system hacking a government website. Prime Minister Anthony Albanese said the breach happened in June, while OpenAI alerted Canberra only in September. The incident comes as Sam Altman and Dario Amodei call for international AI rules.
