Protests broke out in Austin after an ICE agent shot Wilber Rafael Garces Perez, whom authorities allege has a deportation order. Local officials said he was in serious but stable condition after being shot in the torso. He was later transferred from hospital care to ICE detention with a bullet still lodged in his back.
