Fighting has intensified on several fronts in Yemen, with government forces backed by warplanes and drones battling Ansarullah Houthi fighters along the western coast and in mountainous interior areas. The contest for the range from Taiz toward Lahj is especially fierce because of its importance to Bab al-Mandab, Mokha and Taiz governorate. After days of heavy fighting, neither side has made major territorial gains.
