New York City is creating a 36-member bureau of data scientists, technologists and economists to examine company records for possible violations involving prices, wages and other consumer and worker protections. Commissioner Sam Levine says the initiative will give the city technical expertise to enforce existing laws as algorithms and AI increasingly influence corporate pricing.
