PoliticsCarney says he will sign no new EU deals before Canada’s Parliament can vote

A day after European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen proposed that Canada become an EU “associate member,” Prime Minister Mark Carney used a speech to the European Parliament in Strasbourg to advocate closer ties with Europe. He said, however, that he would sign no new EU agreements until Canadian lawmakers can vote on them.
