Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney urged “strategic autonomy” and stronger Canada-EU relations in an address to the European Parliament in Strasbourg. He backed European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen’s proposal for Canada to become the EU’s first “associate member” and said Canadians strongly support closer ties with Europe.
