Indonesia has warned that wildfires could persist until early November, keeping air quality unhealthy in parts of Southeast Asia. While it tackles stubborn peat fires that can smoulder underground and reignite, Malaysia is fighting fires of its own and Singapore and others are dealing with the effects. The region continues to struggle with transboundary haze after decades of the same problem.
