EconomyNiger: Kafra oil block could hold 2.5 billion barrels

Niger’s oil minister said active drilling has started in the Kafra oil block, which could contain an estimated 2.5 billion barrels of oil. The area may become a cornerstone of economic cooperation with neighbouring Algeria, while most of Niger’s current oil production is operated by Chinese companies.
