Malaysian Deputy Prime Minister Ahmad Zahid Hamidi is urging an early general election, saying UMNO should reclaim a leading role in national politics. Eight years after losing its 61-year hold on federal power, the party says consecutive state election wins in Johor and Negeri Sembilan have restored its confidence to prepare for another victory.
