Tung Chee-hwa, Hong Kong’s first leader after the city returned to Chinese rule, has died at 89. His office said he passed away peacefully on Tuesday, Sept. 8, surrounded by family; no cause was given. Chief Executive John Lee called his contribution “visionary” and “exceptionally significant.”
