SocietyNYC misled public after 9/11, saying ‘toxic air’ was safe

New York City released more than 170,000 pages of previously undisclosed air-quality records from after the September 11, 2001, attacks. They show officials knew air around Ground Zero was unsafe to breathe while repeatedly assuring the public it was safe. Mayor Zohran Mamdani announced the release Tuesday.
