WorldStilwell: Iran conflict poses challenges but has not weakened US Indo-Pacific capabilities

David Stilwell, a former US assistant secretary of state, said the Iran conflict has forced the United States to reposition military forces worldwide but has not reduced its ability to respond to China in the Indo-Pacific. A short-lived gap in carrier presence in the Pacific is not unusual, he said; regional security also rests on land-based forces and allied and partner support. Stilwell believes the US, as a global power, can address several challenges at the same time.
