HealthDR Congo Ebola outbreak: Health workers vaccinated as virus spreads

The Democratic Republic of the Congo is battling its worst-ever Ebola outbreak, with more than 2,500 deaths reported since May. Frontline workers in Kisangani are receiving vaccines, but the outbreak is driven by the Bundibugyo strain, for which no approved vaccine or treatment exists. The deployed shots target another strain, making their effectiveness uncertain; nearly 30 percent of doses are being used in a clinical trial.
