EconomyFed’s Schmid Discusses Policy, Inflation, Credibility and Communication

Kansas City Fed President Jeff Schmid said monetary policy may be accommodative rather than restrictive, with underlying demand pressures potentially warranting a rate hike as soon as Sept. 16. He rejected the idea that the Oct. 28 meeting was ruled out because of the midterm election and discussed the central bank’s future communications and meeting schedules.
