> The episode revisits the 1956 Suez Crisis, when Egypt shut the canal, confronted three armies and brought global oil shipping to a halt. After the canal reopened months later under Egyptian control, the region and global economy were transformed. The programme compares that episode with the prospect of a crisis in the Strait of Hormuz.
