SocietyMontreal moves ahead with police body cameras and vehicle dashcams

Montreal police are preparing to equip officers with body-worn cameras. Mayor Soraya Martinez Ferrada said Friday that 3,500 officers will receive the devices, while about 600 patrol vehicles will get dashcams and automated licence plate readers. The decision follows years of debate and three high-profile incidents in which police were allegedly both victims and abusers.
