CultureGreece’s marble Olympic stadium gets a deep clean

Athens’ iconic Panathenaic Stadium is receiving its first systematic cleaning in more than a century. Conservators are using low-pressure water and a small amount of steam to remove dirt, organic material, weeds and decades-old chewing gum from the white marble without harming the historic stone.
