WorldOil spill threatens Oman’s fragile marine ecosystem along 12km of coast

Oil leaking from the tanker Caroline Bezengi has reached 12km of coastline in Oman’s Ras Madrakah area, endangering fragile marine ecosystems and wildlife habitats. The vessel, carrying about 800,000 barrels of oil, ran aground in June and has leaked for weeks. Environmental groups warn that shoreline contamination will complicate the cleanup.
