> Afghanistan’s child hunger crisis is deepening, with 3.7 million children under five expected to face acute malnutrition this year, up 14 percent from 2022. The World Food Programme says 12 provinces have reached critical levels, while babies under two make up 80 percent of the most severe cases. Food shortages, drought, disease, conflict, unemployment and rising prices are driving the crisis, as funding cuts force hundreds of health facilities to reduce malnutrition treatment.
