WorldPhilippine Coast Guard captain recalls Chinese vessels’ collision; RIMPAC welcomes coast guard for first time

Philippine Coast Guard captain Jomark Angue recalled a tense maritime chase involving Chinese and Philippine vessels. The Philippine Coast Guard said a Chinese coast guard ship pursuing a Philippine patrol boat collided with a Chinese warship. Angue, who was operating the patrol boat and avoided two large Chinese vessels, was dubbed the “dragon slayer.” He discussed the confrontation in an interview during the Philippine Coast Guard’s first participation in the RIMPAC exercise.
