TechUS water systems under cyber attack

Dozens of water plants across the United States have reported cyberattacks since the start of summer. Authorities identify Iran as the likely culprit, while the incidents expose questions about weak protection of critical infrastructure. The attacks alarmed officials because they struck systems relied on daily by millions of Americans. They have also prompted scrutiny over who should be held responsible for lax security. The United States has roughly 152,000 public drinking-water systems and more than 16,000 wastewater treatment facilities.
