ScienceLIVE: Spain prepares for total solar eclipse

Thousands of astronomy enthusiasts are gathering in Arija, near Burgos, and in Galicia in northern Spain. Scientists and amateur astronomers are also meeting at the Javalambre Astrophysical Observatory in Teruel. Regional authorities along the eclipse route expect an influx of 6 million people and are preparing 660 official viewing sites, along with parking and camping areas. Parts of mainland Spain are expected to offer some of the best views of the solar event in Europe.
