SocietyNorth Macedonia tobacco workers harvest by torchlight as heat soars

Rising temperatures have prompted tobacco farmers in North Macedonia to change when they work. Harvest crews are now picking leaves during the night and into the early morning, using head torches to see. The shift allows workers to continue gathering tobacco while the heat is intense. It also marks a change from the usual daytime rhythm of the harvest season.
