HealthAI can transform healthcare, but humans must make final decisions: WHO official

Artificial intelligence is already reshaping healthcare by helping doctors manage medical records, clinical decisions, diagnostics and other routine work. It may also expand access to care in remote and resource-limited communities. Hiromasa Okayasu of the World Health Organization warns that inadequate safeguards could allow AI to reinforce bias and deepen existing health inequalities. He says governments should promote responsible use while ensuring that people retain responsibility for final medical decisions.
