> Security conditions are worsening along major waterways stretching from the Strait of Hormuz to the Black Sea. Filipino seafarers say they have continued working through missile strikes, shortages of rations and lengthy delays. The International Maritime Organization reported that nearly 20,000 sailors aboard 1,500 ships were stranded in March 2026. By July, the figure had fallen to about 6,000 sailors on 400 to 500 vessels. Around 2,500 Filipinos remained stuck, according to the report from Manila.
