WorldHormuz shutdown: Can Iran’s economy withstand US naval pressure?

A naval blockade and airstrikes have failed to reopen the Strait of Hormuz, leaving Iran’s economy under mounting strain. Crude oil, petrochemicals and non-oil exports are stalled, while essential imports such as food and industrial supplies are also disrupted. Before the war, almost one-fifth of global oil and gas moved through Hormuz; now only a trickle is getting through. A proposed Iran–Oman maritime route offers little relief, keeping markets on edge as pressure on Iran continues.
