> British Columbia has declared a province-wide state of emergency as tens of thousands of people have fled their homes. The report describes 2026 as one of Canada’s worst wildfire seasons. Climate adaptation expert Anabela Bonada says the region is moving toward what she calls a “new normal.” The situation may not be the last severe wildfire season the province faces.
