WorldIran says Strait of Hormuz talks with Oman are underway

Iran’s Revolutionary Guards say they will keep the Strait of Hormuz blocked until the United States meets specified conditions. Foreign Minister Abbas Arakchi says discussions with Oman are nearing their final stage, but reopening the waterway would still require further conditions, including compensation for war damage. He rejects the idea of direct talks with Washington, saying contact is conducted through intermediaries. He also warns against negotiations while the United States is violating an interim agreement.
