> One day after being sworn in as Colombia’s president, Abelardo de la Espriella is confronting two bombing attacks. During his campaign, he promised a hard-line response to the country’s continuing violence and said on social media that there would be no leniency. The army says FARC dissidents used explosives to destroy a highway tollbooth near Cali. In a separate attack roughly 1,000 kilometres away in the northern department of Cesar, a police officer was killed.
