TechCourt orders Meta to pay nearly $1 billion over child safety risks

A court has ordered Meta, the parent company of Facebook, Instagram and WhatsApp, to pay nearly $1 billion. The ruling found that the social media company put children and teenagers at risk. A New Mexico judge directed $567 million into a fund for harm prevention and awareness. That amount comes on top of $375 million in civil penalties previously determined by a jury.
