> The US Senate has approved Todd Blanche, Donald Trump’s former personal lawyer, as attorney general. Democrats opposed the confirmation, accusing the president of politicising the Department of Justice. Blanche had represented Trump as a private attorney in several criminal trials before joining the administration. The appointment places a former Trump legal representative at the head of the department.
