SocietyPuerto Rico rations water for 48 hours at a time amid extreme drought
Puerto Rico is once again facing a desperate water shortage. Extreme drought has led the government to impose rotating 48-hour rationing, affecting more than 180,000 people. San Juan experienced its driest July in more than 120 years, while reservoir levels have fallen to critically low levels. Governor Jenniffer Gonzalez activated the National Guard to help distribute water after a major line was damaged. She said she does not know when the rationing will end.
