PoliticsLIVE: Right-wing De La Espriella sworn in as Colombia’s new president

Right-wing lawyer Abelardo De La Espriella is being sworn in as Colombia’s new president in Cali. The ceremony marks the first presidential inauguration held outside Bogotá’s congressional building. Organizers intend the location to convey a symbolic message about strengthening security against illegal groups. De La Espriella had pledged to take a hard line on drug trafficking and the economy. Protests are taking place on the sidelines of the inauguration.
