EconomyUS employers unexpectedly cut 23,000 jobs in July

U.S. employers unexpectedly reduced payrolls by 23,000 jobs last month. Labor Department revisions also removed a combined 103,000 jobs from the May and June figures. The unemployment rate fell to 4.1%, but only because some Americans left the labor market. The figures point to weaker employment conditions than earlier reports had suggested.
