> Republican Senator Bill Cassidy said Friday that he will back Todd Blanche’s nomination for attorney general. His support clears a path for Blanche to win confirmation by a narrow margin. Blanche’s candidacy had been thrown into doubt after weeks of scrutiny over his actions. Cassidy’s decision represents a major victory for President Donald Trump and his senior aides. Blanche could not afford to lose Cassidy’s vote after two Republican senators pledged to oppose him.
