> Avocado producers in Mexico’s western state of Michoacan are calling for solutions as insecurity and extortion continue to threaten their livelihoods. The producers issued their warning after the United States suspended avocado inspections in the region. U.S. officials cited a nonspecific threat to U.S. interests for the suspension. The move has disrupted the region’s avocado export activity.
